If you’re a Newcastle United Fan and in hospital then we have a real treat for you. We have teamed up with Radio Tyneside to bring you live commentary from every home game.
Commentators Max Taylor and Paul Laverick are assisted by engineer Steve Emerson to bring all the action from the games directly to the bedside. Commentaries are also relayed across the ground to the visually impaired area where those fans are seated.
Football on Radio Tyneisde has a long history; in fact Max’s father Tom Taylor was involved in the original commentary service, which started way back in 1951.
The original commentary box used to broadcast to hospital patients. These days the team are accommodated in the press area.
The football matches are available to listeners in Bishop Auckland Hospital and Darlington Memorial Hospital. Due to contractual reasons the service is only available within the hospital and not online.
